On 6 March, a new agreement was concluded at American Express Global Business Travel (7,713 employees in Europe). It is very similar to the previous agreement but EWC members will be given slightly more time to perform their duties: 30 hours for members (as against 20 hours previously); 70 hours for “coordination committee” members (was 60 hours); 90 hours for the secretary (was 80 hours); and the deputy secretary will now have 80 hours, which is a new development. An annual budget of 25,000 euros has been earmarked to fund training and recourse to an expert, instead of the previous separate budgets of 10,000 euros and 15,000 euros respectively. In the event of a dispute, the group will pay the legal costs. However, these will be borne by the other party if it has “acted in bad faith and/or frivolously” in bringing these proceedings. The text includes the 2021 addendum, which opts to be governed by Dutch law but retains the United Kingdom (2,127 employees) within its scope of application. However, the agreement does not solve the ongoing dispute between the group’s EWC and its management, which is refusing to allow the EWC to cover the company’s Egencia subsidiary (2,000 employees in the EU), purchased in 2021.
