The European Commission has published a proposal for a directive amending Directive (EU) 2022/431 of 9 March 2022 on the protection of workers from the risks related to exposure to carcinogens or mutagens at work, with a view to lowering the occupational exposure limits and biological limit values for lead, and introducing an exposure limit for diisocyanates, which can cause respiratory diseases such as asthma (see Carcinogens directive revision). These substances are widely used in the green transition sectors (production of batteries, insulating materials, etc. (see press release).
